The Use of Restorative Practices in Schools provides participants with effective classroom and school management strategies, along with appropriate consequences to promote positive and healthy school climates while addressing the requirements of ILPA099-0456 aka SB 100. Participants will gain knowledge to develop school-wide plans based on current Restorative Practice principles that meet Illinois Discipline Legislation requirements from September 2016 while acknowledging the current reality of students and schools.
Participants will analyze their school's current classroom and school management plans while also considering climate conditions. Based on this analysis, they will apply Restorative Practice principles to develop comprehensive plans promoting positive, healthy, and safe school climates along with plans for professional development in Restorative Practices for faculty and staff.
Once all components of the Academy are completed, the Kane County ROE will process the Academy within 30 days and the participant will receive an E-mail once the processing is completed. Participants of the online Administrator Academy must have all requirements completed by June 15, 2027, allowing time for review and processing with ISBE, in order for them to receive their annual Administrator Academy credit for the 2026-2027 school year. All academies completed after June 15, 2027 will be awarded to the following 2027-2028 school year.
