To Register:
The focus of this course is on learning to use protocols to guide professional conversations. Protocols are step-by-step guidelines that are used by educators to structure professional conversations or learning experiences to ensure that meeting, planning, or group collaboration time is used efficiently, purposefully, and productively. Protocols can be used at grade level meetings, department meetings, professional learning community (PLC) meetings, or any type of interactions among a group of educators focused on increasing student achievement and motivation.
In this course, participants will learn: (1) about the value and types of protocols and how to design various protocols for different types of professional learning conversations (2) how to apply specific protocols for groups examining: a teacher's lesson or unit plans students' work to address the learning and teaching and a particular, concrete problem or issue from his/her classroom/professional life and (3) ascertain how they will apply the use of protocols in planning a meeting with a group of educators.
Once all components of the Academy are completed, the Kane County ROE will process the Academy within 30 days and the participant will receive an E-mail once the processing is completed. Participants of the online Administrator Academy must have all requirements completed by June 15, 2027, allowing time for review and processing with ISBE, in order for them to receive their annual Administrator Academy credit for the 2026-2027 school year. All academies completed after June 15, 2027 will be awarded to the following 2027-2028 school year.
