This interactive and engaging academy enables participants to understand the concept of Servant Leadership and its application in the educational setting. The Servant Leader shares power, puts the needs of others first, and helps people develop and perform as highly as possible. The modern servant leadership movement was launched by Robert K. Greenleaf in 1970 with the publication of his classic essay, The Servant as Leader. This academy weaves together the 10 Servant Leadership characteristics/practices found in the model. Participants begin to examine their own beliefs about leaders, leadership, and themselves as it relates to the servant leader model and learn the behaviors necessary to practice servant leadership.
